The finger has a great role in the study of chirognomy.
The fingers of the palm are named as follows
The first Finger – Finger of Jupiter
The Second Finger – Finger of Saturn
The third Finger – Finger of Sun
The little Finger – Finger of Mercury
When the finger of Jupiter long and straight, it denotes the tendency towards the power and position. It also gives tendency to command over others. When it is small, it tells of lack of ambition.
When the finger of Saturn is long and straight, it makes one studious and research oriented. It gives love towards reserved and solitude. When it is short it indicates lack of interest and frivolousness.
When the finger of Sun is long it gives tendency to have name and fame as well as love of beautifulness and art. When short it lacks all these things.
When the finger of Mercury is long and straight it gives command over language, power of expression and receptive capacity. When short it lacks expression in thought and idea and communication incompetence. When it is crooked with a bad line of head indicates evil activities and mentality

The fingers should be long in comparison to palm. It gives intelligence and brain power. When it is short by comparison it lacks intelligence and makes one animalistic as well as tendency towards materialism.

When the fingers are bent towards each other it takes the character of finger of each other.

The wide space between the thumb and index finger indicates great independence of will and activities.

When there is wide space between index and middle it tells of freedom of thought. When the gap is wide between middle and ring finger it tells of freedom of position and wide gap between ring and little finger indicates freedom of all actions.

When the fingers are bent inwards it makes one extremely cautious and very slow to receive new thoughts.

Smooth finger people are more impetuous than the knotty fingers, the knotty finger people are research oriented and analytical. They love everything in details.
